There are already groups doing things like removing screens, etc. Symposium – Phil N1EP announced that The Symposium will be held Sunday, March 14. After some chatter, it was decided that we might just be able to pull off something for this year if only for a few hours. Winter Field Day is a go at Meadow View Apartments Dining Complex on Saturday, January 30th from about noon until 8:00PM. We’ll try to get three stations up and running for the event in hopes that all will get a chance to operate. Light afternoon refreshments will be served. There will be a pot luck supper about 6:00PM. If you know of anyone who might be interested in amateur radio, invite them to join us. Symposium – The symposium will be held Sunday, March 14th. A VE test session will be offered. Minutes were accepted as e-mailed. The Treasurer’s Report (Petty Cash $107.35,

Business
State-wide Emergency Exercise -
Bob AA1PI reported that he was very busy during the exercise that took place on
Friday, November 6. The role of EMCOMM was definitely not clear in the scheme of
providing communication. Galen KB1NJC passed out information that Dick W1KRP had
drafted. Those participating in the exercise were Bob AA1PI, Dick W1KRP, Everett
KA1BFA, Ray KB9TQC, and Ben N1VEH. Evie KA1BRA pointed out that it was noted at
the CERT Jamboree that a communication plan was much needed since lines of
responsibility were extremely fuzzy. Bob is writing up a plan that Dick will
type and distribute.
MDI Marathon
– Evie KA1BRA gladly announced that once again we misplaced no runners. Actually
all went well without any major incidents. Joe WA1OVO was on board to help us
again this year and may persuade his wife Beverley W4BBJ to help out next year.
Phil N1EP was on Cadillac Mountain and was able to relay when needed. A big
thank you to all who helped!
Nominating Committee
- The following so graciously volunteered to be our Nominating Committee this
year:
Justin KB1TGM (note the new call!—yeah, Justin!), Phil N1EP, and Mark N1MEA.
If you are interested in filling any office, please contact one of the committee
members. A Slate of Officers will be presented at our December meeting and will
be voted upon at our January meeting.
Winter Field Day
– Dick W1KRP suggested that the Winter Field Day could be held at Meadow View
with a pot luck dinner Saturday Night. The Winter Field Day takes place the end
of January. (Update: Because Meadow View is a residence and the room is used by
the inhabitants and operating would also generate lots of noise, it was decided
that Meadow View was not the place to hold this event. Alternative locations are
being considered. As news is released, you’ll get an update.)
December Meeting –
The December 10th meeting will be a pot luck dinner at 6:00 PM at
Meadow View Apartment Dining Complex. The club will provide plates, cups,
plastic ware, coffee and whatever soda is left from summer Field Day.
Field Day Results
– Rob W8HAP said the Field Day Results were published in December QST but are
also available on the ARRL website. We did real well—no bragging here—we’re
good! We placed 1st in Maine, 10th in New England, and 90th
nationally (in the top 5th). This record is going to be hard for us
to beat next summer, but we can do it!
Repeater Issues –
Rob W8HAPwas asked if he would address the issues that the .07 repeater seems
to be having. Rob said that Sam has done diagnostics on the repeater and all is
in top shape. The problem is that Time Warner has leakage from their Channel 19.
Sam is in communication with them to get the problems resolved.
Ray’s Tower
– Joe KB1NJD land lined Ray KB9TQC to see if Saturday, November 14 at noon would
be a good time for the tower crew to arrive and do the deed. Ray thought
Saturday noon would work for him.
Maine Coast Memorial Hospital Radios –
Dick W1KRP said that the
MCMH radios are now installed and operational. They are located in the basement
next to the hospital’s Emergency Command Area.
Symposium
– Phil N1EP announced that the date for the Symposium is March 14th
with a rain or snow date of Sunday, April 11th.

“oppose”!
