Field Day Committee Report- Dick W1KRP, Chris N1CJS and Chuck AC1BS made up the committee. Dick W1KRP reported that the committee decided to hold Field Day 2018 at Sumner High School. Chris N1CJS needs to write a request for permission to use the facilities. Rob W8HAP asked that it be noted in the request that bathroom facilities be available during the entire event. Dick W1KRP asked if the EAWA had insurance. Evie KA1BRA  assured the group that we do indeed have liability and equipment insurance. A copy can be made available if so requested. Evie KA1BRA asked Dick W1KRP if an alternative site had been discussed by the committee. Dick W1KRP said he had spoken to Stu Marckoon about using the Lamoine Beach area in case the Sumner site fell through. Mr. Marckoon said he would mention the use of the site to the Lamoine Parks and Recreation Committee.
Rob W8HAP made a motion for Chris N1CJS to write the request to use the Sumner High School facilities for Field Day 2018. Dick W1KRP seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

N1BWI Silent Key – Evie sadly reported that Bob Johnson N1BWI, member of the EAWA for many years, had passed away on February 2, 2018. Bob resided in Bucksport. Evie will send a sympathy card to Bob's family on behalf of the EAWA.
Camp Beech Cliff Request – A director at Camp Beech Cliff (Beech Hill Road, Mount Desert) contacted Andrew Sankey KB1TGL about offering amateur radio as a camp activity this coming summer. Andy asked Evie to get input from the EAWA group since the request does not fall under the auspices of the EMA. Evie asked the group to give input and to think what is possible since the age group is around five to thirteen years of age. She also mentioned that kids in this age range will not be happy to be confined for five days to learn amateur radio. Also the parents may not be happy to spend the cost of camp on ham radio. The camp offers a large range of activities like sailing, swimming, wall climbing, archery, etc. The EAWA group tossed out several great suggestions:  demonstrations of various amateur radio activities in perhaps an hour or two once or twice a week, refer the camp to Radio Active Kidz, or do small construction projects that the kids can take home. Andrew will pass our suggestions along to the camp director.

Rob W8HAP made a motion to adjourn that was seconded by Dick W1KRP.  So done at 7:35 PM.

Respectfully submitted ,
Evie Sargent KA1BRA
