New Business
October Breakfast – The October breakfast at Denny's in Ellsworth will be Saturday, October 7 at 9:00AM. Please let Phil N1EP (n1ep@yahoo.com) know if you plan to attend so he can give them a head count.
EAWA Meeting Time – After a short discussion why the EAWA meetings start at different times during the calendar year, Chris AB1PZ made a motion that all EAWA meetings begin at 7:00PM. The motion was seconded by Jeff KB1DBE. The motion passed!
MDI Marathon- Evie KA1BRA gave the highlights of the MDI Marathon that will take place Sunday, October 15th: No early starts, children's race Saturday October 14th in downtown Northeast Harbor,
Marathon 7:00AM start in Bar Harbor, race course closes at 3:00PM, 1750 participants. Evie stressed that help is needed again this year. Chris AB1PZ stated that he was ashamed of the EAWA last year for lack of commitment. That if no one wants to help, the EAWA should not commit to the marathon.
Regretfully last year Chris single handedly handled all the communication for the race. This year he will be representing the EMA along with Andy KB1TGL and Bradley KC1HVP. If anyone can help for even an hour or two, please let Evie know (eviesargent@yahoo.com, 244-1063). Chris N1CJS suggested that we have a meeting for all those who plan to help with the race ASAP and not wait until the last minute to get the information packets. (Evie has contacted the race organizers and asked that the information be available ASAP.) If you can help, please give me your shirt size. I don't know for sure whether we will be given shirts or whatever, but we usually get something to wear during the event. Thanks to Chris AB1PZ for a bang up job last year!
November VE Test Session – Phil N1EP reported that possibly there will be a test session in November at Meadow View Apartments.
Rob W8HAP made a motion to adjourn that was seconded by Chuck AC1BS. The motion carried. So done at 7:45 PM
PROGRAM
Phil N1EP gave a program on message handling using various RADIOGRAMs as well as the Amateur Radio Disaster Welfare Message form. The purpose is to get accurate information passed as quickly and accurately as possible. There will be a SET (Simulated Emergency Test) coming soon. Also with an active hurricane season this year, how to handle emergency/welfare messages might just prove useful!
Thank you, Phil, for an informative and hands-on session!
Respectfully submitted,
Evie Sargent KA1BRA
Secretary/Treasurer
