I would like to thank Evie KA1BRA for filling in as Secretary/Treasurer for the past four months while I was away.  She is a true friend to me and a devoted member of the EAWA.

APRS UPDATE  Markus K1FIG reported that because of Covid-19, there has been limited progress on the project. Everything is on hold right now.

FIELD DAY  Jeff KA1DBE suggested that the club prepare for Field Day even though we may not get to execute our plans. The group agreed.  A Field Day committee will set a date for an on air planning meeting. Because of Covid-19, schools have been closed. As you may recall, last year’s Field Day was located at the Trenton Elementary School.  Andrew W1AXS advised the group that the Trenton Airport would be available this year. The EMCOMM trailer would most likely not be available. However, the antenna can be used.

EAWA will continue to conduct its monthly meetings through ZOOM until the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.  Thank you to Jeff KA1DBE for setting up Zoom and leading the meeting. And thank you to all who checked in. I will send out the instructions and link to ZOOM prior to next month’s meeting.

It was suggested a “Health and Welfare Net” be started.  If anyone is interested in organizing an informal on air get together, please let us know.  These are difficult times, and reaching out to each other is important.

The Hermon Hamfest has been cancelled.

Joe WA4OVO suggested the possibility of holding VE classes on Zoom.  He is willing to teach a class.

Ann Mary Rosenbrock AB1CH from Vermont wrote to the EAWA to share an experience and requested help in identifying a local ham who helped her when her  truck broke down. Ann Mary was travelling to Lubec at the time. Fortunately, Steve W1DTX happened to be in the area and stopped to assist. Thank you, Steve, for your kindness.

The next EAWA meeting will be May 14, 2020 online using Zoom.

Joan W1DLC made a motion to adjourn the meeting that was seconded by PHil N1EP.  So done at 7:30PM.

Jeff KA1DBE presented information on the celebration of “World  Amateur Radio Day” April 18, 2020. The International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) was founded on this day in 1925 in Paris.  You can learn more about the history/event at www.iaru.org/worldamateurradioday.

After the meeting, there was discussion on how to use Zoom.  The information was valuable to both newcomers and experienced Zoomers, as well.

Respectfully submitted,

Joan Hildreth W1DLC
