Ham Radio Test Session- There will be a VE test session on Saturday,
November 18th at 1:00PM at Meadow View Apartments IV Community Room,
25 Tweedie Lane, Ellsworth. Walk ins are welcome, but one may also
notify Phil N1EP (phil.n1ep@gmail.com) if they plan to take one of
the exams. One needs a legal photo ID, either a social
security number or a FRN number, and a $15 exam fee.
December Breakfast – Phil will not be around to coordinate the
December 2nd breakfast. If someone
else would like to coordinate it, let Phil know, otherwise the
breakfast folks will meet in January.
Sunday Sessions – Dick W1KRP and Chris N1CJS reported that
Sunday Sessions will begin Sunday, November 12th at noon and will go
until whenever. The plan is to start with a Packet Radio how
to set up and use. Please feel free to join in!
December EAWA Meeting- Evie KA1BRA noted that our December meeting
is usually a Pot Luck luncheon. It was decided to have the gathering
on Saturday, December 9th at noon. Bring whatever for a dish and
hopefully all will enjoy the festivities!
Nominating Committee – The following “volunteered” to be on
Nominating Committee: Chris Weaver AB1PZ, Evie Sargent KA1BRA, and
Chuck Liebow AC1BS. They will come up with a slate of officers to be
presented at our December Meeting and voted upon at our January
Annual Meeting. Nominations will also be welcomed from the floor.
Winter Field Day – Phil N1EP suggested that the club consider doing
Winter Field Day using the set up at Meadow View so all can get
familiar with the station there. Winter Field Day is near the end of
January.
Back-Up Power for Meadow View – Dick W1KRP was at work at Meadow
View on the very windy day Monday, October 30th when power was out
in several places. He used his hand held as little as possible. Evie
KA1BRA mentioned that she thought Meadow View was supposed to be one
of the places to be used for communication in a disaster and back up
power would be a necessity. Phil N1EP made a motion that the EAWA
Treasury buy an AGM battery for the station at Meadow View.
The cost not to exceed $300. Burt K7HVN seconded the motion. The
motion passed.
Secretary/Treasurer Position – Evie KA1BRA reported that 2017 would
be the last year she would serve in the position of Secretary/
Treasurer. Years on this planet have gotten higher ( sounds better
than “I'm getting old”)and it is time to get perhaps a younger
person's name on all the EAWA accounts (bank, insurance, State
Corporation, etc.) If anyone is interested in taking on this
position, please let one of the folks on the Nominating Committee
know. Evie KA1BRA is willing to help with the turnover.
Chris N1CJS made a motion to adjourn. Dick W1KRPseconded. So done at
8:13 PM with only Phil N1EP Against
Respectfully submitted ,
Evie Sargent KA1BRA
Secretary/Treasurer
